Giving You a Helping Hand
When dealing with bedwetting, it's really important to stay positive and always praise your childs efforts to stay dry.
To help you approach bedwetting positively we've come up with some simple tools to help support you and your child and hopefully ensure drier nights ahead!
These tools have been specifically designed to help you keep track of your child's progress as you tackle bedwetting together. For example they may help you uncover patterns that help predict why the child wets one night and not another night; or perhaps activities on certain days of the week could make them more likely to wet the bed, such as playing sport etc.
Progress Calendar
Once your child starts having a few dry nights, it's a good time to start tracking his or her progress.

Drink Diary
By keeping a drink diary you can help your child understand that what they put into their body while they're awake may affect what happens to them while they sleep.

Points to Note:
- Using a reward programme is a great way for you and your child to tackle bedwetting together. However remember dry nights in the early stages can often be few and far between, so don't let your child become disheartened and demotivated in the early stages as this will lead to a failed response.
- Keep the rewards small and make it something the child values.
- Make sure you agree certain goals of acceptable behaviour, around dealing with the issue once the child has wet the bed, such as dealing with wet sheets and changing of clothes. Always reward compliance and positive reponses to these behaviours.
- Remember always reward positive action rather than a dry night as this is more like to have a successful outcome in the long term.
- Also always ensure that your child takes on sufficient fluids, particularly during the day (the recommended daily fluid intake for children is 7-8 cups per day) and when they are at school and not just leaving it to the evening.
