Top cleaning tips
As every parent knows, bedwetting can be a really emotional issue, particularly in older children. That’s why cleaning the effects of bedwetting quickly and easily is so important.
One way of managing the effects of bedwetting is to prepare as best you can.
Firstly, you should set out spare pyjamas, sheets, a towel and a pair of DryNites® each night to help you respond quickly and with the minimum of fuss.
DryNites® Bed Mats are another great way to protect against accidents and simplify changing the bed when accidents occur. They are specifically designed to fit discreetly onto the mattress and provide effective absorbent protection.
Stripping and washing
If an accident happens, strip the sheets as soon as you can. You should have a laundry bag ready to store the wet items, including pyjamas, until the morning. Or you might prefer to get them into the washing machine straight away.
Cleaning the mattress
If you haven’t been using a Bed Mat, or the accident missed the protected area, the mattress may be wet. Your first step should be to press an old towel or cloth against the wet surface to soak up any excess dampness. You’ll need to continue that process, using as many cloths as necessary, until no more wetness is left.
Every mattress will come with its own cleaning instructions, and you should follow them wherever possible. The main thing is to avoid wetting the mattress any more than you need to, so focus on spot cleaning.
